Circles of Change:  Conversations with Dr. Zara Larsen

on Change Leadership and Career Fulfillment

October 15, 2008

“Bravo:  A New Direction in Life”

Guest: Katrina Anderson

Anchoring Points:

  1. Bravo’s success is embedded in three points: 1) great product, knowledge and inventory, 2) great service, knowledge, and experience, and 3) great environment, calming and relaxing.

  1. Bravo is unique, as we focus on size and fittings and comfort – feeling better AND looking better.  This is about basics versus just beautiful, and ALL 52 bra sizes for real women of all sizes.  My staff treats customers like we like to be treated when shopping.  We literally and figuratively fit with our clients – we’ll go shopping for you.

  1. The planning of my boutique called for an incredible attention to detail that my customers may not see, but they’ll know to appreciate.  Bravo is a spa-like setting.  The design of the space, muted colors, choice of comfortable curves throughout, role of fung shui, it all feels open yet is only 1,200 sq ft.

  1.  A defining moment was realizing I could choose whatever I want to do – research, be smart, look for pitfalls, be responsible and then go for it.  When one of my first customers finally got the right size bra, she cried over the change. THAT was so powerful and important.  I realized I was a cheerleader to feel good – just be OK with yourself and not be perfect.

  1. I so appreciate the power of referral and 80% of our clients are destination clients. I love it when my customers leave happy and can feel support of women around one another, business owners and customers.

  1. I prefer to operate from a place of faith, not fear.  If you are in transition, write down the pros and cons of your most current work and create a personal awareness of what makes you happy, what are you really good at?  The rest can come with some extra education, but many jobs and new businesses start from your own experiences and joys – research and follow your gut with decisions, and surround yourself with others to support you.

  1. We are always better served by being ourselves.  The product sells itself. Bravo is by far my greatest accomplishment, and I never thought I would do this, but I have such pride in going for it, as well as loving what I do each day and helping women every day!

  1. This is my calling.  I love what I do and I will never give up on it.  For right now my goal is to reinforce and help women realize how important having the perfect fitting bra can be – and ultimately, sharing my story for other women to feel like they too can “go for it” and start a new direction and path in their life – BRAVO!
