Anchoring Points:
1. Act on your inspiration. I don’t know why, but I know to listen to it, like when I drove to a video store one day and decided I was going to make a movie. My wife, Mandy, and I had the courage to see it. Without her, the movie wouldn’t exist.
2. Develop yourself and learn about the world, what you love, what you don’t love.
Although in blissful ignorance some people seem happy, choose to get educated about life before deciding what you will do for the rest of it.
3. Look into the future to decide what you are going to do now. When my kids are teenagers and they are asking me about their dreams, what will I be able to teach them? This movie – helping pregnant women and their families make informed choices about childbirth – is all about this.
4. Get the right team around you in life. We become the expectations of our peers, so choose wisely. We are the average of the five people we spend the most of our time with.
5. Understand yourself, understand your motivation. I work on this every day. Consider getting with a coach for personal development; but, be careful – get your needs from within. I made the movie to feel important, which was easy in the beginning but not at the end.
6. Be careful what you wish for. Get specific on what it is you are wanting, and be clear on what you are willing to do and not willing to do. I wanted “Hollywood”, ever since I was a kid and I got it; but, then had to pull myself away from it as I became something I didn’t want to be.
7. See the big picture, being a consumer in today’s world. Use your common sense, as experts are not perfect. Whether considering alternative childbirth options or any choice you get to (have to) make, you have to understand how the system works and who is running it to be able to successfully navigate within it.
8. How to do something you have never done before or don’t know how to do?
- Know what you want, and obsess over it. It must be an obsession (Law of Attraction). Your subconscious becomes convinced it has already happened, and you are convinced it will.
- Get smart and MODEL – find someone who has done it and do what they did.
- Stay focused, keep moving, take risks, stretch yourself – it will happen.
