“Wear the Hat That Fits the Best”
Guest: Cyndy Neighbors
Anchoring Points:
1. Growing your business means wearing many hats – which hat is your favorite and what you do best -- finance? designing? talking to and selling to people?
2. Communication is the real objective of marketing and advertising.
3. It is important to have a plan to get to a destination; but be flexible and adapt
as the rules have changed. Media has changed, customers needs have changed.
4. Marketing isn’t placing ads – it is communication for a specific audience.
- Know who your customers are – find out what is the best way to talk to them
· Do you have a customer database? Is it up to date?
· Email, phone, snail mail – connection directly to existing customers is critical
· For communicating with new customers, find the right vehicle – you might be surprised!
6. Public Relations is NOT marketing, and it certainly isn’t “free” advertising.
7. A website is NOT advertising – it is a marketing tool. You still need to help
people find you, even more than your brick and mortar location. The rage of
the web and social marketing are important to engage.
8. At Many Hats we are extremely versatile, and solution oriented. We also, unlike other agencies, will help with as much or as little as our client needs. If they just need design, or just need PR, or just need a plan, we integrate well with their existing business model.
9. You can do a lot on your own, but a road map, a concept, and a design from a
pro can really be a leg up in a very competitive market, and allow you to wear the hat or hats that fit you the best!
