System for Identifying Motivated Abilities® PROCESS
INTRODUCTION The SIMA process is as much about the path the candidate travels on, as it is the outcome reports and coaching. A candidate receives the SIMA® Autobiographical Form electronically to begin the process of uncovering his/her motivated abilities. We are available to review the form and answer questions should any arise.
COMPLETION OF THE AUTOBIOGRAPHICAL FORM The candidate is asked to develop a list of 15-20 satisfying achievements from throughout his/her lifetime. Candidates often find this phase requires reflection over a period of days. The initial short statement pages and then expansion pages for 8-10 of the self-selected achievements set the stage for engaging with one of our consultants.
INTERVIEW A 1 1/2 to 2 hour interview is often scheduled to discuss the achievement activities beyond the written inputs, conducted face-to-face or via teleconference. This added oral information is confidentially recorded and is vital to surface in-depth data about how the individual is motivated. CASE STUDY ANALYSIS The Larsen Group engages SIMA International’s seasoned case experts to analyze the written and audio Autobiographical data per their rigorous proprietary, time-tested assessment architecture. Specific and unique motivated behavior in career, community and public service, and personal life environments will be pinpointed, as revealed in a system of patterns – the candidate’s essence, what circumstances trigger and sustain him/her, how the individual is best managed and how he/she manages others, the subject matter of greatest interest, and finally the web of motivated abilities that underpin the candidate’s behaviors.
REVIEW & FOLLOW UP Several follow up meetings are scheduled with the candidate to discuss the completed Motivated Abilities Pattern® findings, the implications for his/her career and life, and what job enrichment and/or fit strategies could be implemented. A written report ranging from 35-40 pages and several visual tools are provided during the debriefs. Typically, this process requires from 2 to 3 weeks from start to finish, allowing for candidate work on the Autobiographical form, scheduling and casework. The process can be compressed based on critical individual or business demands. Optimal results occur when the individual takes his/her time and is deeply reflective at the onset, and then following the debriefs develops a plan of action or developmental roadmap with the collaborative support of his/her sponsor and other colleagues.
