Anchoring Points: 

 

  1. Predictive Index (PI) is an assessment tool that characterizes behavior – how you go about doing what you do, which is at least twice as important as what you do.  It uses four drives to describe how an individual goes about doing their work:  a) control, b) inclusion with other people, c) stability, or intensity of an individual to intention and pace, and d) correctness.

 

  1. PI offers the most accurate reading also of: a) morale, sense of well-being and purpose in the future, b) subjective and objective decision-making, and c) adaptability and stamina, the energy level of the individual.

 

  1. There are no “good” nor “bad” PIs, but rather this assessment helps identify what kind of environment energizes and engages people, and how to get the right fit.  The information helps team members do a better job of understanding others, as well as a better understanding of self to then be able to be consistent and transparent – the reins of personal accountability.

 

  1. Other applications include job candidate interviewing and selection, conflict resolution, and leadership/management development.

 

  1. How we perceive ourselves is typically not the reality as mirrored by other people.  Self-knowledge is particularly important to be able to convey confidence and be articulate during interviews, as well as better pinpoint that dream job or pursue a path that matches our abilities.

 

  1. Arnie Daniels developed PI in the early 1950’s at Harvard following his WWII service as a bombardier, studying with psychologists to discover why some missions were more successful than others.  The team was fascinated to learn they could measure “careful”.

 

  1. PI includes 172 words associated with behavior, is administered over the web or in hard copy form, provides near immediate results via summary report and three patterns that describe: a) who the individual is based on natural motivated needs, b) how they perceive the environment is requiring them to behave, and c) synthesis of behaviors at the core.

 

  1. PI is available in 142 countries representing 72% of the world’s population, translated into 62 languages including Braille.  It is licensed to organizations based on the number of employees, with tuition for a two-day interpretation seminar to train leaders.   PI is statistically valid and reliable, approved by the Equal Employment Opportunities commission and American Disabilities Act.

 

Doing this type of work has made me far more understanding and accepting of other people.  I have learned a little bit about a lot of businesses, yet if the challenge has anything to do with people, most likely a solution resides within Predictive Index.
